Cryptosporidium Antigen Rapid Test Cassette
【INTENDED USE】
The Cryptosporidium Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (Feces) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Cryptosporidium Antigen in human feces specimens to aid in the diagnosis of Cryptosporidium Antigen infection.
【SUMMARY】
Cryptosporidiosis is a mucosal infection caused by apicomplexan parasites of the genus Cryptosporidium, which generally develop in the epithelial cells of the small intestine.1 It is usually diagnosed by microscopic detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in stool specimens. The parasite is protected by an outer shell that allows it to survive outside the body for long periods of time and make it very resistant to chlorine-based disinfectants. The infection is acquired through the ingestion of oocysts, frequently through the consumption of contaminated water or food. 2 It can also spread through coughed fomites of an infected individual.3 Cryptosporidium antigen detec-tion by immunoassays has become a well-established aid to microscopic examination for the diagnosis of cryptosporidiosis. Both the disease and the parasite are commonly known as”Crypto”.
The Cryptosporidium Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (Feces) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Cryptosporidium Antigen in human feces specimen, providing results in 10 minutes. The test utilizes antibody specific for Cryptosporidium Antigen to selectively detect Cryptosporidium Antigen from human feces specimens.
